Course Purpose and Objectives

Fighting effectively with your handgun, and using it to save your life (and the lives of others) requires well-developed fundamental skills. You will not achieve the consistent level of speed and accuracy required for defensive proficiency without these skills.

The purpose of this course is to equip you with the knowledge and tools you need to develop your fundamental shooting and combative skillsets on and off the shooting range. And so-doing become proficient at fighting with your gun.

Consistent speed and accuracy, combined with a highly-developed combative mindset is what wins fights. Handgun Tactical Fundamentals are the foundation of all advanced skills, and is where consistent speed and accuracy comes from.

Presenting your pistol perfectly every single time you clear concealment and draw from your holster, so that when you push out the sights are aligned with the target exactly where your eyes are looking, is the ideal to strive towards. Training the individual aspects of Handgun Fundamentals – from the various ways to clear concealment, to achieving a consistent and firm grip, to developing a consistent and straight trigger press – is a major part of this.

Applying handgun combatives – the knowledge, skills, and attitude to effectively fight with your gun – requires a thorough grasp of these fundamentals. The various drills and exercises will encourage assertive and economic manipulation of your firearm in order to develop and maintain a standard of shooting proficiency under stress. This is the first step in building the solid foundation you will need to become defensively proficient with your handgun.
