Yes, You Can Reprint a Green Card Licence

November 8, 2017 6 Comments

Yes, You Can Reprint a Green Card Licence

A while back I wrote an article detailing that any old green card or ID book licence is still valid. I also explained that if you lose your old Arms and Ammunition Act licence, you can have it reprinted. Despite the fact that the SAPS told Parliament that they will reprint old licences, and paperwork requesting such reprints existing, I have never come across anyone actually doing it. Until now.

A gentleman named Shamil Fakir posted a picture of his freshly reprinted licence on the Gunsite SA Facebook group. He added the following context: “Collected my licence reprint today after a six month wait. The card has been at my local police station since early August but the DFO did not call me to collect it.”

Yes, the process took some time. None the less, this is living proof that you can have a lost green card licence reprinted.
