The Laws of Life team did a podcast with Martin Hood (of MJ Hood & Associates) and Paul Oxley (Chairman of Gun Owners SA).
The gentlemen discussed a wide range of topics pertaining to legal firearm ownership and gun rights. They kicked-off with the changing demographics of firearm owners in South Africa, and how people first get into owning guns. Another important subject was how the Firearms Control Act came into existence, and the difficulties associated with it. Also, they touched on how the ANC embraced an agenda of total civilian disarmament, which contradicts their founding principles after the Basotho Gun War of 1880. Finally, the program concluded with problems caused by corruption and criminality within the SAPS, and the matter of expired firearm licences.
I found it particularly interesting that SAPS officers cannot be prosecuted under the FCA of 2000 for renting their guns to criminals. You can find out why this is the case by listening to the program.
Anyone who owns firearms should listen to this podcast. Additionally, people who are curious about firearm ownership will also benefit and find it interesting. You will probably learn something useful, and it is completely free!
Please support the Laws of Life team for hosting this. It will be fantastic if Garry and Lionel can do a follow-on interview regarding this topic. You can find their Facebook page by clicking the provided link, and you can share and comment from there.
You can stream the podcast directly from CliffCentral or from iTunes.
